 Analysis of the Scenes

The film has essential charateriteristics of a good thriller like moments of high tension for
example the hospital sceene reaching for the scissors leading to murder, the flat scene when the are trying to escape, the car chase scene.

The Car Chase Scene

The car chase was fast pace with up beat music building up the viewers attention and focus. Without the music in action chase scenes we wouldn’t feel the excitement of it. This scene consisted of alot of loud cars beeping, the scidding of the cars on the road and also the tram coming towards them at a fast pace. When the windows were covered in beer and they were unable to see whats coming towards them this created alot of tension for the audience but it also kept them intereged in what was about to happen next. The car chase scene consist of 80-100 cuts in just over 3 minutes, this makes the scene fast pacing and interesting to the audience and it keeps them watching otherwise they would miss something.

The Fighting Scene

The fighting scene had alot of action and violence within it and also it conveys that something may happen to the main character Martin Harris when he intervines and obstructs the man holding the knife. The main colour that werew displayed throughout this scene were dark and gloomy suggesting the danger and death. In addition, the fast pace and the amount of cuts adds to the tension the audience is experiencing whilst watching this scene.

Thc Club Scene

The club scene in the movie displays a desperate time for the main character Marin Harris and his ally Gina. When the approach the club there are bright lights and loud music conveying that their would be noway to escape the noise and know whats coming after them. The bright red has a negative feel to it suggesting some sense of danger. Also the bright red would keep the audience intreged and interested.

second production meeting

Today we worked incredibly hard during our second production meeting.

We choose the the plot line of Revenge. Today we added more detail into the plot line and discussed a range of camera angles we could use to shoot all the different scenes. We also dedicated our time to think of some ongoing ideas about where we would like to film and who will be our characters.

There is a divorced couple who have a child together. The husband has been in prison and has just come out. We see the mum and son on the normal weekday morning taking her son to school. Whilst on the rush to school the mums friend is ringing her constantly as she has seen that her ex husband has come out of prison, but the mum leaves her phone at home and doesn't have the time to pick up.

risk assessment

The risk assessment shows as of our potential hazards that could occur during our filming and production of our opening of our Thriller.

Title Sequence

Title Sequence

title sequence is the format by which films or television programs present their title, key production and cast members, or both, us conceptual visuals and sound. It usually follows but should not be confused with the opening credits, which are generally nothing more than a series of superimposed text.

Format of title:

  1. Production Company- IDENT; e.g MGM, Pixar, Paramount, Dreamworks, Columbia, 20th Fox, Universal, Disney.
  2. Production Co. Presents
  3. A film by .. Director
  4. Main Stars
  5. Titles
  6. Other major cast members
  7. Sound, Editing, Make-up, Costume, Lighting, Cinematography, Scripts
  8. Producer(s) can usually be more than one
  9. Director
  10. Could put title here- Remember to use Live Type and try to make titles interesting. They can be either over black or superimposed over your film. Space them over the two minutes of the film. Give the audience plenty of time to read the titles
  11.  Finish with a fade out and fade music out going into the start of the movie with dialogue.

Studio IDENTS

Most studio indents usually display major big  icons like the the Earth, a Mountain etc. These are big obvious features that show powerful and big figures.

Past Student Thrillers

Past Student Thrillers

4 - Excellent
3 - Good
2 - Basic
1 - Poor

This is 'Hunter' a past student thrillers that I thought was very good. It was brilliant because they used many different camera shot. They also used different characters to make the short film look realistic
rather than using actors that would not suit the role. The costumes are well very well complimented to suit the actors, as they display the characters perfectly. The casting could have chosen a better place to show the setting more appropriately and I don't really think that the setting fits the story correctly. They used their props successfully by showing it from the front making it much more believable. I rated this a 3.

This is 'Power cut' one of the past student thrillers that I thought was very poorly done and very basic. From the setting to the plot it seems as though it has not been thought out properly and only been filmed last minute. The use of the setting was extremely basic and unsuccessful, when it comes to giving it a feel of a working office it wasn't at all believable that it had been set in an office. The use of black and white drained the story line out ad became very boring to watch, there was no reason for it.  However, they had good use of camera work at the start of the film with the panning and transitions.  I rated this a 2.

This is 'The Routine' I thought this was the best out of all three of these short films and it made me the most interested to watch. The use of camera work in The Routine was done perfectly and it really felt like i was watching a professional piece of work. Including a rolling shot and also a point of view shot at the end used to create suspense and an original take on what would of being an ordinary shot of someone walking. The shots taking with a mirror is hard to achieve without showing the camera in it to. Especially the shot with the villain in the mirror gave an element of surprise and shock to the audience. The film and plot was thought about deeply and was  done to the point where it became a psychological thriller and it played with the audiences mind.  I rated this a 4.

1st Production Meeting

1st Production Meeting

In our first production meeting the 4 of us Myself, Deja, Tanya and Dorcas came together to make our initial ideas about what were going to do for our own trailer of a thriller movie. As we started a discussion and we developed on some of our ideas.

Our first idea was 'Obsession'. This was intentionally about a married couple who are living happily together. this then turns into a disaster because of a neighbour. This neighbour has a crazy obsession with the husband and she wants to get revenge on the wife by using violence.

(Left to right)Dorcas, Myself, Tanya and Dorcas.

We came up with a medley of different ideas for our films. We had so much fun sharing and discussing ideas.

One of our later ideas

We came up with High School Sweetheart. In this film we see a high school couple. The girlfriend cheats on him and so naturally the boyfriend is angry and seeks revenge. He kills/harms the girls friends first this makes the girl scared that he is coming after her last. However I think this plot lines touches more into the genre of romance rather than a thriller so it may not be an appropriate film to do.

 Some of our other ideas the we came up with;

In addition we came up with film which we named Revenge where a divorced wife's ex husband has just been released from prison. We hear the woman on the phone to her lawyer asking to keep him away from her and their son.
Our first idea, which was personally my favourite, Obsession. This is where a happily married couple are living life. But  neighbour becomes obsessed with the husband. The neighbour then kills the wife due to jealousy and obsessiveness.
